Hello. My name is Clay and I'm an Adventist......well not really. You know how an alcoholic never refers to their problem in the past tense? It's never, "I was an alcoholic" but always "I am". Adventism is kind of the same way. I disavow it in every way but am still a vegetarian and am a horrible dancer. I still live my life under a heavy cloud of subconscious guilt. I'm still an Adventist in many ways. So whether or not you feel as deeply damaged as I do or you simply attended Adventist Schools for a few years feel free to join. This is a safe place where you will not be judged. If I catch any practicing Adventist in here, however, I'll throw your ass out. This is a safe place and no guilt is allowed. I look forward to meeting and learning about all of your experiences.

Re: Welcome
Thu, February 24, 2005 - 5:14 PMClay,
It suck dealing with trying to get rid of the effects of years of being an Adventist!
I forgot how much they did to mind in till you reminded me of my youth as a Adventist with this Tribe, I've spent the last 4 years of my life on my own, away from them and I still am like you a horrible dancer and I can't even get high and forget about it because my longs are way to sensitive. -

Thu, February 24, 2005 - 11:59 PMTony,
Clearly you don't sound like the dumbest person. I have yet to figure out how to delete a reply but honestly if you put something down in this tribe that you really want me to get rid of, let me know and (as the moderator) I can kill it. That totally sucks about your lungs. Have you tried a hydrator? Actually, here's the ticket. Brownies! I've got a friend who made this chocolate cake that was REALLY good.......but you've got me started on one of my other favorite subjects. If you are ever in NorCal let me know and I'll hook you up. ;-) -

Re: Welcome Pt. 2
Fri, February 25, 2005 - 9:42 AMBTW, think of being vegetarian as an ecological, cool thing to do. As far as dancing goes, like Nike says, Just Do It. I learned how...I even take bellydancing lessons! -

Re: Welcome Pt. 2
Fri, February 25, 2005 - 10:14 AMExactly! I'm hanging out with lots of cool neo-hippie people now who are vegetarian for socially conscious and health reasons so actually I fit right in. As far as dancing, yeah, I just go out there and do it. It just takes a little more courage than it should. :-) -

Re: Welcome Pt. 2
Sun, March 20, 2005 - 6:57 AMI'm wondering ...what is it about dancing that is so terrible to Adventists. I sensed an attitude when I began studying to try and understand my former boyfriend's belief system. All I knew is that it really irritated him! I asked.........but the question was quick to be avoided. And....what is the deal about "appropriate" dress for women. Have they lightened up on that???? -

Re: Welcome Pt. 2
Mon, March 21, 2005 - 10:16 PMI think it has to do with dancing... leads to fucking, and that "sex" is for a man and a wife... when women dance it temps men, men can't control themselfs so when we see a girl dance, we are tempted to fuck them and sometimes we do. Thats what they think also they think a women should not show off the pretty body got gave them because yes us men will be tempted to and probly will fuck the woman who shows us her body and by that I don't mean naked, just maybe a 3/4 naked leg and a belly would be enough for the man to want to have sex really badly.
