(everyone waves and says "Hi, LeAnn!")

I joined the church as a young adult, so I didn't have the 'benefit' of going to academy, campmeeting, etc. I got into it through my grandmother, who was raised adventist. My husband has a couple of friends who are Adventists, but they don't know I'm a former one ( I'm now Jewish). They invited us to a picnic last summer with some of their church friends, and they were talking about the Heritage Singers and Del Delker. It was so hard for me to keep from laughing, I hadn't heard those names in years! Finally, I said oh, yeah, I remember them, my grandmother was an Adventist!

Clay, this is great.

    Hi LeAnn! "wave, wave"
This is so awesome! Del Delker wow! Can I tell all my weird stories now and everybody will know what I'm talking about? When I was 13 at PUC a girl kissed me during a spin the bottle game, saying "it's just a game Monte. Don't think it is any more." She later joined the Heritage Singers and I can point her out in old record album covers. There's the girl who kissed a lipstick mark on me during a spin the bottle game. The parents at the house the party was at must have been liberal Adventists.

      Hey LeAnn and Monte,

Heritage Singers! I had almost forgot about them I couldn't watch movies but I had to watch the 15 year anniversary of The Heritage Singers over and over again, because my dad "Dennis Wilde" who adopted me was in them.

        Hi, Monte and Tony!
Life's weird, huh? I remember not being able to celebrate Halloween with my twin daughters (who happened to be born on that day), but going to a Harvest Festival at the church school.
God forbid I ever wore make-up or jewelry. I always pushed it, though. My first husband wasn't an adventist, so I (gasp) wore a wedding ring! This was back in the early 80's, in Longview, WA, where the church was quite strict about things like that. It seems to have relaxed some since then, at least in other cities. Funny how that happens...

It really is like being a recovering alcoholic. You think you are fine and then, suddenly, it hits you and you have to: 1. leave the theater, 2: take off your jewelry, 3. stop dancing, 4. whatever. Then you are all, like, why did I do that? Just like an alcoholic.... One day at a time.
